Who remembers finstas or otherwise known as “fake insta”? Finsta was a popular trend back in 2016 where users would create a fake second Instagram account where they would share more authentic content. Well, Instagram’s latest update is bringing back Finstas but in a much cooler and more innovative way! In this blog, we will cover everything you need to know about Flipside, a new feature that Instagram added in its latest feature, and how you can leverage it as a business owner. 

What is Instagram’s Latest Feature: Flipside? 

Flipside allows users to create a new profile without actually creating a new account. All you have to do is press the black key icon at the bottom right of your profile. This will take you to a darker interface of the app where you can add a new name, profile pic, and bio. 

Once you have your profile set up, you can select the friends you would like to share your flipside with. As of February 1st 2024, you are only allowed to add your friends to your flipside. Flipside not only allows you to share new content but also post your existing drafts from your main account.

Target Users of Flipside 

We believe this new instagram feature will be most used by Gen Z, Influencers, and businesses. Given the popularity of “fintas” and spam accounts amongst the younger demographic, Gen Z will likely use their Flipside as a platform to share more authentic and unfiltered content.

Influencers and public figures may use Flipside as a “personal account” to share authentic content, away from the pressures of a curated public image. Alternatively, they may use it to create a space to share exclusive content with their loyal followers.
